The Department of Social Work, National Taipei University (NTPUSW), has a long history and has grown and thrived with the development of the social work profession in Taiwan. NTPUSW was founded in 1951 and has undergone several changes until its current status. There are three programs: Master's Program, Bachelor's Degree Program, and Evening Bachelor's Degree Program. The development of the department is as follows.

Social Administration Section, Taiwan Provincial School of Local Administration and Taiwan Provincial Administration College

August 1961

Social Work Track, Department of Sociology, Taiwan Provincial Chung-Hsing University

August 1964

Establishment of an Evening Bachelor's Degree Program in the Department of Sociology, Taiwan Provincial Chung-Hsing University

August 1971

Social Work Track, Department of Sociology, College of Law and Commerce, National Chung-Hsing University

August 1999

Establishment of a master's program in the Department of Sociology, College of Law and Commerce, National Chung-Hsing University
